Teens have a lot to gain from participating in a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) program. The principles of BJJ are very similar to those of karate and other childrens martial arts, which encourages consitency, attendance, effort, and determination. Will these elements being the focus of a BJJ teens program, your teen can benefit mentally, socially and physically, developing further in several aspects of life. Whether your teen’s goal is long term or short term, improvement in these areas can usually be seen within a short period of time, but longer programs greaten the degree of development. Many of the benefits are obtained indirectly, so the teens improve in a natural and graduated pace, which instills positive reinforcement.

Fitness:
Improve the overall fitness level. Conditioning, stretching and strength exercises. Program is designed to be progressive so each student progresses at their own speed. Consistent training produces better muscle tone, strength, and flexibility.
Benefits: lower percentage of body fat, increased energy, and enthusiasm for physical activity.
Coordination:
Progressive series of movements that improves the coordination. Learn grappling techniques and putting them together in a string of movement. Repeition: practice single movements as well as combinations which will enhance coordination through the development of mental pathways and muscle memory.
Confidence:
Increases confidence of kids that will carry over into all venues of their lives. Through a series of challenges kids learn how to approach new situations and successfully navigate them. Challenges are progressive, and graduated. A foundation of self-trust and a willingness to approach challenges is also implemented in BJJ. Developing confidence needed to achieve more challenging goals in the future as well.
Self-Esteem:
Success through training helps builds a self-respect that translates into self-esteem. They learn to trust, respect, and like themselves for who they are. Impact positively on how they relate to others, authority, and themselves.
One of the most consistent improvement for teens training in BJJ is the development of positive self-esteem.
Self-Defense:
Learn valuable self-defense skills as well. Learn how to defend and develop the confidence that helps avoid many of the bully traps. Learn how to avoid, evade, and escape from many physical confrontations.
